Amendment 62 is a dangerous and deceptive measure that if passed, would change the state constitution and insert the government into the personal, private health care decisions that women and their families make every single day.

In 2008 Coloradans rejected a similar measure, Amendment 48, by a 3 to 1 margin with 73 percent or 1.7 million voters overwhelmingly rejecting it in every county.

Facts about Amendment 62

We need your help to defeat Amendment 62. We need your help to protect a family’s right to make personal, private life decisions. We need your help to keep politicians, lawyers and courts from intruding in our health care choices—including emergency contraception, in-vitro fertilization and access to medical care, including abortion.

Two years ago Colorado voters overwhelmingly rejected virtually the same proposal. Proponents are back this year, in a sneaky effort to use slightly altered wording to trick voters into adopting their extremist agenda. Join the NO on 62 Campaign because we need your help to defeat this year's so-called “personhood” amendment, because – like its 2008 version – it simply goes too far.

Giving legal rights to fertilized eggs has serious consequence. Amendment 62 would impact literally thousands of laws and threaten quality health care and patient privacy.

Some possible results of Amendment 62:

  • Ban All Abortion: Amendment 62 would ban abortion even for victims of rape and incest or when a woman’s life is at risk.
  • Outlaw Emergency Contraception and Birth Control pills: Amendment 62 is so broad it could outlaw emergency contraception, the birth control pill and other methods of birth control because they can prevent a fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus.
  • Restrict Health Care: A woman with cancer could be refused life-saving medical treatment because it could put a fertilized egg in danger.
  • Violate The American Value Of Religious Freedom: Amendment 62 would insert one religious viewpoint into the state constitution, making one religious viewpoint the law of the land.
  • Clogged Courts: Amendment 62 would impact literally thousands of laws ranging from when property rights are granted, to inheritance rights, to who can file a lawsuit.
  • Health care decisions should be made by individuals, their doctors, their families and their God – not a fringe group rewriting the state constitution.
