Colorado mom Heather speaks against Amendment 62, the so-called "personhood" amendment. Heather had her daughter Shaylin through in-vitro fertilization, which would be banned if Amendment 62 passes. One in eight couples in the United States use in-vitro fertilization and other forms of assisted reproductive technology (ART) to have a family. According to the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology, "By giving legal rights to an embryo from the beginning of biological development, Amendment 62 would endanger the availability of ART used to treat thousands of Colorado patients suffering from the disease of infertility."
